Procedure for Emergency Requests of Cytogam®

  • First, we ask that always attempt to order through your distributor before making any special emergency requests. Distributors do receive a weekly allocation of Cytogam® , and remain the fastest means by which to procure product. Additionally, the emergency stock of product is limited, and finite.
  • If upon ordering through your distributor, you are unable to procure adequate product to meet your imminent patient needs, the prescribing physician should fax (610-878-4888) a “letter of medical request” to the Medical Affairs Department (attn. Dr. Garrett Bergman, Medical Director) here at CSL Behring. Within the letter please include:
    • The specific “de-identified” (patient initials only) patient request, including patient weight and age and the condition for which Cytogam is being used.
    • Number of Cytogam vials that you are requesting (note: requests should be limited to a 2-week supply)
    • Prescribing physician contact info, including direct-office or pager number
    • Pharmacist contact info
    • The name and location of your usual Cytogam distributor
  • If the request is approved, the physician will be notified and a drop-shipment will be arranged with your usual distributor, and the hospital pharmacist
  • If the request is denied, the prescribing physician will be notified.

Once again we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the tight supply of Cytogam® , and we continue to work to improve the quantity and consistency of product supply. However, until such time that Cytogam® supply improves, we believe that the process stated above best serves the needs of all our patients throughout the country.
